“In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.” --Dorothy Sayres

Well, Bush hasbetrayed us again. This is because the man is not at heart a pro-lifer. He has adopted a pro-life stance that led him to veto the ESCR bill. That this is only a stance is shown by his approval of pharmacies handing out Plan B like after-dinner mints. The fact that the babies killed by the Plan B pill are the same age as the the ones being destroyed by ESCR apparently never even occured to him. This is why I have never voted for him.
You see, many years ago I noted that some Republican candidates seemed to lose their pro-life convictions as soon as a hard vote came up. It was obvious that, like Ronald Reagan, and G H Bush, they were only making pro-life noises in order to get elected, and would not do anything substantive about our culture of death when they were finally in the position of power. There is just too much political advantage to be mined from that particular vein to allow it to peter out by changing the laws, or the courts.
That's when I wrote and swore the pledge. The pupose of the pledge is to punish the Republican party when they present a candidate that is not really, or at all, pro-life. For too long they have presumed upon our votes, knowing that many will vote for a Giuliani, believing that he would be "better" than a Hillary. In the very short term, that might be marginally true. In the long term, it means that they can simply ignore pro-life voters, and that nothing will ever change. The only hope for a real pro-life government policy in this country is to raise up a really pro-life political party. The only way to make a really pro-life political party is buy one with the only currency we have, our votes.

So, take the pledge and start thinking long-term.

I, (name), hereby pledge on my honor as a Christian, to never again vote for a political candidate who is not unambiguously pro-life. If neither the Democrat nor the Republican candidate is unambiguously pro-life, I will vote for a pro-life third-party candidate. If there is no such candidate, I will not cast a vote in that race.

This is how the radical Feminists and Socialists control the Democrat party, by constantly reassuring the Democrats that their votes are not to be taken for granted, and a candidate had better be solid on their issues if they want their votes. Conservatives and pro-life voters can do the same. That they don't do so explains why they are so often betrayed by people like G W Bush.
